That Gutter Guy began the way most good trade businesses do — one person, one ute, and a growing list of neighbours who’d been let down by someone who quoted, didn’t turn up, and never called back.

The first jobs were straight gutter cleans around Cessnock and Aberdare. What became obvious fast was how much was going unnoticed while nobody was up there. Cracked pointing along the ridge. Rusted-out valley irons. Solar arrays with a pigeon colony living underneath them. Homeowners were paying for a clean and quietly sitting on a much bigger problem.

So the business grew into what the roofs actually needed: gutter guard so the clean didn’t have to happen every year, solar cleaning and bird proofing so systems produced what they were sold to produce, and full roofing — restorations, replacements, leak detection and repairs — so a customer didn’t need three different trades pointing fingers at each other.

Four years into the roofing side and the map has grown with it. The Hunter Valley is still home ground, but we’re now across Newcastle and Port Stephens week in and week out, and we run down to the Central Coast and North Sydney by arrangement. Same crew, same standard, longer drive.

What hasn’t changed is the way the work gets done. The full run cleared, flushed and flow-tested. Photographed from up top so you can see it. Quoted in writing, and the invoice matches the quote. If a job doesn’t need doing yet, we say so — and we’ve talked plenty of people out of work they were ready to pay for.
